CBC has a story that basically reiterates what was said below re: refunds.

Flair Airlines has said they will be bringing customers home as scheduled.

Refunds?
by: Anonymous

If you paid by credit card, chances are good that your CC company will reimburse you because you clearly did not/will not receive the goods/service you purchased. Most credit card agreements don't specifically spell out any such guarantees of reimbursement, but industry practice to date suggests, that customers will get a refund if they ask for it.

Because, GTS was not operating in the province of Ontario (they relocated from Ottawa to Halifax late last year)they are not members of or covered by TICO and that organization will not be providing any sort of financial or logistical assistance in this matter despite the fact that many flights were scheduled to departed from Ottawa.

It is hoped that Flair Airlines will honour return flights bookings from destinations that currently have GTS customers on-site, but if Flair has not yet been paid for such flights, they might not. Stranded customers may have to pay again to book passage home on another carrier.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few days, people are expecting to come home as early as this coming Friday.

Those who paid for a future trip by means of cash, cheque, money order or debit card and who did not purchase supplemental travel cancellation insurance, will probably experience significant challenges in obtaining any sort of refund.

Go Travel South is Bankrupt
by: Anonymous

Effective Feb 23 2010 Go Travel South has ceased operations. Now the fun begins for those who left on vacations as recently as last Friday Feb. 20.

I wonder if GTS will at least make an effort to get people home, otherwise here's hoping those affected aren't traveling on maxed out credit cards...flights home will be hard to come by on cheap charter flights.

I checked with my credit card company and they said that if I don't receive the trip, they will refund me in full.

Go Travel
by: Jon Dean

The anonymous person who penned the above is VERY much wrong Firstly anyone who books with a credit card is procted and can lose no money.Secondly Westjet Vacations are not member of TICO they are one of the bigerst travel companys in Canada With regards to the wild card I went on one and havb e a%star hotel at a fraction of the price you would normally pay If it is not for you you can book a names hoel like other companys and you will still find the best price I have been with Go Travel 5 time and each time has been first class

Beware the "Wild Card"
by: Anonymous

Just got back from a 4* Wild Card . The only thing I wanted, a beach, was at the sister resort. I could have lived with the disappointment, had I not arrived home to discover that I lost(stolen from the room) a pair of gold earrings(at the resort...Victoria Golf and Beach). Once I got home, I opened a case to discover it empty of Nintendo DS games(8 of them).(these were stolen either out of the room(in the safe), or the luggage during travel.

Editor's Note: "Wild Card" options save you money but you give up the choice of where you are going to stay. If you have your heart set on specific options like a great beach or huge pool - do not choose the wild card option or you may be disappointed like the traveler above.
