Horizon & Co. (founded in 1963), is Canada's leading boutique travel company. Horizon designs and stages authentic and deeply personal travel experiences that are carefully choreographed to induce a life-long memory. In addition to offering published trips on seven continents, Horizon builds private custom trips for discerning individuals and small groups. Our Luxury Adventures are about the perfect combination of calibrated luxury with calculated risk, and thus are more about the amount of freedom than the amount of gold leaf, about tasting wine from the barrel rather than a crystal goblet, about sleeping under the stars rather than between Frette sheets. In our definition, luxury is more about the richness of the experience than the cost of the accommodation.
These trips seek to move beyond merely seeing the sights or getting away from it all in pursuit of serendipitous moments of personal discovery and meaning. We make it easy by taking care of all of the details and distractions, arranging the necessary props, assembling the local cast of players, and otherwise setting the mise-en-scene for the theatre of travel so that you can focus on immersing yourself in the moment.
After all, while it may be worth risking some stiff muscles, a parched throat and some unforeseen adventure on a day's excursion into the wilderness, it's not worth risking inedible food, undrinkable wine and stultifying conversation on your only vacation of the year.

Exploratory Series: If you are over 35, luxury-conscious, spiritually-curious and non group-travel oriented, then our Exploratory Series of escorted and independent trips may be the perfect solution. These trips are designed to immerse you in the character of a place, to allow you to slow down, go deep, and participate in something that is authentic, meaningful and real. The itineraries are built with a focus on personal freedom to allow you to savour experiences, haggle in the marketplace, linger over meals, lounge around the pool, curl up with a book, and imbibe wine with the locals at the cafe.
Our Escorted Trips are designed for sociable travellers who want access to our Horizon guides on the ground 24 hours a day so that they can focus on having fun, meeting new people, and getting the most out of their travel experience rather than spending all of their time planning logistics, making choices, or reaching into their wallets. The itinerary, prices and dates are all fixed, and every trip is escorted by a Horizon guide.
Our Independent Trips are designed for independent-minded travellers who like to travel on their own, but still want to experience our superbly designed itineraries at reasonable prices (and who don't have the time, inclination or expertise to do all of the planning themselves). The itinerary and prices are always fixed, the departure dates may be flexible or fixed depending on the specific trip, and there is no Horizon guide.
